About Dr. Alexis Light, M.D.

Dr. Alexis Light was born in Los Angeles, California. She attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where she focused her studies on Medical Anthropology and Photography. She received a joint Medical Degree and Masters in Public Health from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then went on to attend OBGYN residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Light has spent many years researching, publishing articles about, and teaching on issues of sexuality and LGBT health care. She has a special interest in working with Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals for all their gynecological and obstetrical needs.

Dr. Light is passionate about reproductive healthcare including contraceptive options and family planning. She enjoys working with a diverse patient population from puberty through menopause. She specializes in providing full spectrum obstetrics and gynecological care as well as minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She is excited to be joining the Capital Women’s Care medical staff so that she can provide patients with personalized and comprehensive OB/GYN services.
